  1. Maintain Regular Sleep Patterns

Consistency is vital in order to prevent headaches, including migranes. The average person should aim for seven to eight hours of sleep per night, and try to go to bed and wake up at the same time every day, even on the weekends. Oversleeping and lack of sleep can be a trigger for headaches.

  1. Staying Hydrated

A common cause of headaches is dehydration. It is essential you drink enough fluids throughout your day. Proper hydration is considered one of the best ways to prevent dehydration headaches.

  1. Eat Regular Meals

Fasting or skipping meals can lead to a drop in blood sugar levels, which is a common headache trigger. Therefore, it is very important to maintain consistent, nutritious eating habits to keep blood sugar levels stable.

  1. Manage Stress

Stress often causes muscle tension in the shoulders, neck and scalp, which leads to tension headaches. Relaxation techniques such as yoga or simple stretches as well as chiropractic care help to manage stress.

  1. Limit Triggers

Caffeine, alcohol and screen time are considered three big triggers when it comes to headaches. You must be consistent with caffeine intake, as sudden withdrawal or an increase in caffeine can cause headaches. Try to avoid alcohol, especially red wine, as this is known as a trigger for headaches. Reduce eye strain by taking breaks from screens, allowing time for your eye muscles to relax.
