What is a diagnostic medical ultrasound?
A diagnostic medical ultrasound is a non-invasive imaging technique that uses high-frequency sound waves to create images of structures inside the body.

What can use an ultrasound to look at?
Medical Ultrasound is a great method to assess the condition of muscles, tendons and ligaments in many areas of the body. Patient's will be able to see their bodies in real time.
What conditions can be diagnosed using the ultrasound machine?
Anything involving muscles, tendons and ligaments can be visualised using the diagnostic ultrasound machine including, but not limited to:
Achilles tendinitis/rupture/tear
Rotator cuff tear/tendinitis
Ligament/tendon injuries
Plantar fasciitis
Bursitis
Muscle sprain/strains
please note we cannot scan the spine or the hips, and we can only diagnose musculoskeletal injuries and do not assess hernia's or lumps

What to expect during your appointment?
Victoria West is our ultrasound clinician here at the clinic. She will first welcome you into the treatment room and have a chat with you to have gain some background information on your problems. She will then assess the area using her specialist ultrasound machine. She will use the images to explain what is going on and she will suggest what she advises you do to help manage the condition.
